Joint statement on Retained EU Law Bill

Members of the House of Commons today have the opportunity to ensure that the safeguards that so many of us value can only be changed after proper consideration by Parliament.

The Retained EU Law Bill, as originally drafted, gave Ministers enormous powers to revoke, and where they see fit, replace current protections that have their roots in EU law.

As representatives of trade unions, environmental and consumer groups and wider civil society, we urge MPs to support amendments that ensure these powers do not remove important protections.
